A Safe Place for Ships: Cork, Ireland, Europe and the Sea The School of History will hold a maritime history conference on Friday 28th and Saturday 29th November, in the electrical engineering building (L1). Proceeding will run Friday from 1:30 to 7 pm; and Saturday, 10:00 AM to 5 pm. Topics will include the Spanish Armada; Irish pirates; coastal defences; the Royal Navy in Irish waters; the Imperial German Navy; sixteenth century Irish maritime trading; the US Navy in Cork in the First World War; and Ireland’s role in the war at sea in the First World War Admission is free and open to the public. |
